Step 3: God’s Plan Trail

God uses human events, deeds and words to reveal himself to man. One way we can know God is by seeking to see his him through the events of salvation history. This trail will help your family walk through the key events in salvation history and revel in the beauty of the incarnation.

Step 4: Divine Filiation Trail

Through our baptism we become sons and daughters of God. This grand reality is known as our “Divine Filiation.” In this trail your family will explore who Jesus is and the power of our redemption and adoption through our Baptism.

Step 5: New Beginnings Trail

In Romans 6:1-11 St. Paul exhorts us to honor the new life given to us through Christ’s death. He proclaims, “We know that Christ, being raised form the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. The death he died, he died to sin, once and for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:6-11). Through Christ death and resurrection we are offered newness of life. In this trail you will explore the profound impact of this reality on our lives here and in the kingdom to come.

Step 6: Light of Christ Trail

As Catholics we are to be light to the world. Pope Paul VI reminded us that as laity we

“are called [to the world] by God that by exercising [our] proper function and led by the spirit of the Gospel [we] may work for the sanctification of the world from within as a leaven. In this way [we] may make Christ known to others, especially by the testimony of a life resplendent in faith, hope and charity. Therefore, since [we] are tightly bound up in all types of temporal affairs it is [our] special task to order and to throw light upon these affairs in such a way that [we] may come into being and then continually increase according to Christ to the praise of the Creator and the Redeemer. (Lumen Gentium, 31)

In this trail your family will unwrap the gifts of the Holy Spirit as you explore your unique calling within the body of Christ.

Step 7: Kingdom of God Trail

The end of time will come for each of us individually and for the world. This reality should act as a continuous call to conversion and a message of hope. God not only sent his son, and the holy spirit to guide us, but through them established a church to lead us into the new kingdom. The catechism teaches us:

At the end of time, the Kingdom of God will come in its fullness. Then the just will reign with Christ for ever, glorified in body and soul, and the material universe itself will be transformed. God will then be all in all, in eternal life. (CCC 1060).

In this trail your family will explore the four marks of the church, the communion of saints, the nature of forgiveness and God’s promise of a new kingdom.
