II. Liturgy.

The Mass 101 Trail is the Liturgy based faith step for the Order of Embers learning sequence. Catechesis should bring the child to full participation in the liturgy. “The Church ardently desires that all the Christian faithful be brought to that full, conscious and active participation which is required by the very nature of the liturgy and the dignity of the baptismal priesthood (General Directory for Catechesis, p. 75). Faith Journeys begins with the mass. As you complete this trail you will help your child grow in their understanding of the mass.

Faith Steps.

 
 

  1. Explain the four parts of the Mass.

  2. Put the different elements of the Mass in order. (cards)

  3. Name the different sacred items in a church. (graphic organizer)

  4. Explain what the “consecration” is and when it happens. (video)

  5. Explain what “the sacrifice of the Mass” is. (video)

Instructions.

Watch the videos with your child. Help your child fill out the graphic organizers and use the Mass cards to help your child study the sequence of the mass. Your Family Guide will ask your child a few of the following questions before signing off on this Trail.
