Prayer.
It is important to give children a language to express what takes place in the soul. Vocal prayer provides this framework. As Fr. Giesler explains, “The fact that vocal prayers always use the same words, such as the Our Father and Glory Be, does not mean that they are boring or monotonous. If we say those words with attention, they help our souls immensely because they come from a divine source. They literally help us to think as Christ and the greatest saints thought” (You See Me, You Hear Me, p. 59).
As you lead your child through the Order of Embers Faith Steps we encourage you to teach and review the basic prayers of our faith. The Our Father Trail provides Faith Steps that will help teach young children learn about the faith. If you are ready to take it a step further continue on with the Extra Mile section of this module.
